Sloth Demon -- Vantas is a demon of Sloth due to her failing to use her talents and gifts that she possessed in her human lifetime. She also was physically and spiritually lazy, not believing in any gods and such. Therefore she was guilty of the sin Sloth, so when she died she became a demon of that specific sin.

Most sloth demons are monochromic in colour scheme (their skin, hair, eyes, clothes etc consist of only black, white and various shades of grey). This is supposed to symbolise many things; an easily understandable example would be the fact that a person who is constantly tired out, lazy or doesn't do anything at all is quite a dull person -- therefore sloth demons lack any colour and are considered dull to other races.

Personality

Although a sloth demon, Vantas isn't as lazy as most would assume; she feels more capable now in her new form and is therefore slightly more active than she was as a human. However, she still holds certain aspects of laziness.

Vantas usually has a smile on her face, but she isn't all fun and games; although laid back, Vantas knows when and where she has to draw the line and won't allow any funny business if the situation calls for maturity and a serious attitude.

As commander of the Tartarus Vault Guard, Vantas is headstrong and allows her actions to speak for her; however, the responsibility of insuring the safety of every civilian including her guards takes its toll on her and therefore she may make the wrong decision in certain situations.

Vantas has had her moments, she has a bad habit of worrying about something more than she needs to which can affect those around her to make it seem the situation is much more worse than it actually is. She also has a short attention span, unless she's completely focussed on the situation at hand; this often leads to her being unable to hold much of a conversation with someone and this may lead to that said someone getting angry with her.

History

Born Reece Nicola Witte, Vantas as a human was the definition of laziness, she never caused any problems for her parents or siblings due to her not actually doing anything. However, her parents worried incase she was sick or was suffering from some sort of mental illness, but no matter how many tests she took every doctor said there was genuinely nothing wrong with her. Most people thought it was a phase, some thought she was just depressed but Reece just couldn't bring herself to do anything. Her mother was a Christian but her father was an atheist, both of them never fought about their views on religion since religion didn't really matter to them; this same attitude rubbed off on Reece and therefore she didn't hold any belief in any God.

However, it finally got to the point where enough was enough -- her parents finally decided to take her somewhere, to get her outside and more active. With the rest of Reece's siblings having moved out or gone to college, her parents were able to focus all their attention on her to either ask her questions about why she didn't do anything or if there was anything wrong and if they could do something to help.

Reece simply answered, "I'm just tired... I don't want to do anything," and with that the deed was done.

Reece's parents decided to go on a hiking trip with her; while on their journey up the steep mountain her parents called to her to 'watch her step' while jumping over a medium-sized crevice. Reece with her earphones in, her music turned up rather loudly did not hear her parents warning and fell through the crevice, falling to her death.

After her death, Reece awoke to Belphegor's realm: the realm of Sloth due to her succumbing to the sin of sloth itself. Belphegor, the arch-demon of this realm explained to Reece that she herself decided not to use the gifts and talents that God had bestowed upon her. Reece did not understand, then replying with how she did not believe in any God or religion -- Belphegor laughed and said simply:

"For Satan finds some mischief still for idle hands to do, my dear..."

Reece's body was transformed to one that lacked any colour, symbolising the dullness of those who commit the sin of sloth. She was given wings, symbolising the unnecessary need for walking to those who commit the sin of sloth.

Lastly, she was given a new name...

Vantas Stratum.

This sloth demon was never given a purpose by Belphegor, she was sent away to a different dimension and this said dimension turned out to be the Tartarus Vault.

Vantas became a recruit in the ranks of the Tartarus Vault Guard, she rose in the ranks and soon enough became the commander, the leader of the guards.

Skills

Weapon Rune Stones
In her time in Tartarus, Vantas has obtained the knowledge of knowing how to use rune stones; specifically speaking weapon rune stones. With the right incantation and right rune stone, Vantas is able to conjure up a weapon which can be used for a limited amount of time or can be only used a limited amount of times. These weapons can range from guns, to swords, to cannons and many more types of weaponry. However, if for example Vantas had a rune stone for a cannon she would only be able to use this once, but she usually only carries two types with her: a dual pistol type and a sword type.

Gymnastics, flexibility
When she was a recruit, Vantas' commander was more than just brutal, he would grab a gun of any type: a paintball gun, a pellet gun or even real gun and start shooting it at the recruits to teach them how to dodge better. Moving from side to side wasn't going to suffice and therefore Vantas was forced to learn how to do an array of somersaults, cartwheels, rolls etc.

Remembering things better when she's asleep
If for some reason Vantas accidentally falls asleep she may wake up with some valuable information she might have gathered earlier but forgot about when she was awake due to being preoccupied. She could also just wake up and tell you a weird fact that she found in a book not that long ago which doesn't really mean anything to anyone in the slightest.

Abilities

Sloth demons have the ability to change their forms to fit a persons desire, Vantas feeds off of those who commit the sin of sloth and can change her appearance to 'help' someone finally give in to that specific sin. This power would be classed as her main power.

Vantas is able to float a few inches above ground, however she cannot fly. Vantas doesn't really use this ability too often, she's more likely to walk unless she becomes lazy enough that she'd begin floating about places instead. This power would be considered a tertiary power.

Extra

Due to Vantas' incredible laziness and guiltiness of sloths in her human life, Belphegor cursed her with an uncontrollable desire to fall asleep at random times.

Vantas is a play on the word 'vanity' which is the excessive belief in ones own abilities or their attractiveness to others. It can also mean 'emptiness' or 'worthy of praise.'

Stratum (or a stratum) is one of a number of layers, levels, or divisions in an organised system. 'A complex poem with many strata of meaning.'

All female sloth demons have white blood, while male sloth demons have black; so if Vantas does get flushed her skin, which is already white, would actually start glowing slightly but only people who know this fact would be able to tell she's blushing.

Vantas' hair moves as if it were underwater, it goes against gravity and floats about -- Vantas tied it into a pony-tail to try and control it a bit better and get it out of her face.

Sometimes you can tell when Vantas is about to fall asleep when she starts yawning every few minutes or when she starts speaking very slowly until she finally falls unconscious.

Roleplay Sample

Vantas: No, no, no -- I remember everything pretty well, like I didn't just forget everything that happened in my human life. *The sloth demon peeked over the wall, seeing the monster swerve from side to side as it made their way towards them.* Yeah, my parents were nice, they had good jobs and always had time to spend with me and my older brothers. So... *Vantas rubbed the back of her head, trying to think about what she was saying.* No, I didn't have any issues with my life up until the day I died -- apart from the fact that I was an incredibly lazy shit? My life was pretty good. To be honest I was pretty stupid; really, who wears earphones while walking up a death trap-- I mean mountain? Crevices everywhere I swear to-- *She coughed, straightening her back a bit.* Nevermind. All I know is that I fell down a crevice while going up the mountain with my parents and I... Died? *She thought for a moment, then nodded in agreement with what she just said.* Yeah, pretty sure that's how it went -- then I met good old Uncle Belphegor who got dibs on my soul and made me a sloth demon. That's all there is to it really, anything else you want to know before we go and risk our lives by trying to take down a gigantic monster who may or may not rip us apart? No? Good. Shut up then and fire the damn cannons. *With that said, she watched as the recruit she was speaking to nodded and got up, lighting the cannon and ducking down to cover their ears before it fired towards the monster.*
